The Education Quality Improvement Programme (EQUIP-Tanzania) is supporting the Government of Tanzania to increase learning outcomes in primary schools, particularly for girls. It focuses on system-led, cost-effective improvements that deliver school improvement models that can be replicated at national scale. The implementation began in 2014 with five and later seven regions (Shinyanga, Simiyu, Kigoma, Lindi, Mara, Dodoma, Tabora). In 2017, two further regions were added (Singida, and Katavi), which altogether account for over 5000 primary schools and 2.3m pupils.
