Increased participation of community at Kibara B Primary School

Isobel Wilson-ClearyNews & Events

In Kibara B Primary School (Mara region) poor relationships between parents and teachers led to high rates of truancy among pupils and low morale amongst teachers. The formation of a parent-teacher partnership (PTP) motivated parents and teachers to have joint meetings, including reconciliation sessions, and make use of sports and games platforms.

After series of meetings, the community around Kibara B has realized the value of teachers and there is now a good relationship between teachers, parents and the community, with both improved pupils’ attendance and teachers’ morale in the classroom.
